The Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce annual State of the Chamber lunch with keynote speaker, Lieven Bertels. Bertels is the newly announced director of Momentary. Momentary is the innovative arts museum being developed by Crystal Bridges and is located near the 8th Street Market in Bentonville in the decommissioned Kraft Foods plant.
Bertels brings an impressive international career to Bentonville. For the past three years, he served as the Festival Director for the Sydney, Australia Festival, the largest arts festival in the southern hemisphere. Previously, Bertels worked for the Holland Festival as Artistic Coordinator from 2004 to 2011. He began his career at the RITCS (then RITS) Film, Radio and TV School in Brussels, teaching subjects including audio technology, music recording, audio art, sound for animation movies and acoustics. In his words he joins a community of people, “living to change things, to test new things and make new commerce.”
Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce members will also be recognized at the lunch for leadership and community service. Among those being honored is Alice Walton who will receive the Sam M. Walton Award of Excellence.
