Living Forest
Follow the Yellow Brick Road at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area with Living Forest: The Wizard of Hobbs (ROGERS, Ark.) – Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area will host its annual Living Forest event on Saturday, Oct. 25, with sessions from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. This year’s theme, The Wizard of Hobbs, invites families to experience the forest like never before, with costumed animals and “wicked” as well as “good” humans guiding visitors as they “follow the yellow brick road” along the Ozark Plateau Trail. The 0.25-mile, ADA-accessible trail offers a fun, interactive way for participants to learn about nature and wildlife. This year’s program highlights how the tornadoes of 2024, while destructive, created opportunities for a healthier and more diverse forest ecosystem. Before beginning the hike, visitors can explore craft and information booths located at the Visitor Center. Groups of up to 25 participants will depart every 15 minutes from the check-in booth for an hour-long guided hike. Afterward, guests are invited to enjoy s’mores, hot chocolate and tea at the pavilion. This non-scary event is perfect for children ages 4 and up and is presented in partnership with the Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists.
