Position Summary: 

The Senior Technical Writer acts as the champion of platform documentation for Pax8. They collaborate closely with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements based on audience and task analysis. They act as both player and coach, producing end user documentation for internal and external audiences while also providing guidance and mentorship to more junior technical writers. They are expected to suggest and apply best in class documentation principles, strategies, and industry standards and push to implement those process improvements to the entire Documentation Team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality, internal, and client-facing user documentation, including reference guides, release notes, and other support documentation
  • Articulate product features in searchable guides to help users navigate and use our products
  • Build relationships with content creators across Pax8 to improve ways of working together, share best practices, and develop content that accurately captures our product experiences.
  • Understand and inflect a unified technical writing brand voice for all curated content that is echoed across a diverse suite of products
  • Collaborate with product managers, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to provide content for new features, and continuously improve existing documentation based on customer feedback and user research
  • Review and provide feedback on documentation contributions from other technical writers to ensure continuity of content style
  • Effectively communicate project status, progress, and outcomes to senior management
  • Help edit, organize, and direct the work activities of other technical writers
  • Mentor and coach more junior Technical Writers
  • Manage a backlog of documentation and user guide requests

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least five (5) years of experience as a technical editor or writer of technical software documentation
  • Experience planning, prioritizing and executing large writing projects with high attention to detail
  • Experience with distributed version control (Git), single-sourcing content and experience managing documentation systems
  • Proven experience using a content management system/authoring tool (Authorit, Madcap Flare, Wordpress)
  • Experience with Jira, Wrike, Rally or equivalent project management tool required
  • Experience working with organizational leaders, subject matter experts and other writers to build content strategies and deliver results using agile models and processes
  • Experience working closely with a software development team and deep knowledge of the software development life cycle and website concepts
  • Experience with XML, or Markdown-based documentation systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate information and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience

Compensation:

  • Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $73,000 or more depending on experience

*Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
